Sage are the largest supplier of business management software to small and medium businesses, as such they have a wide variety of training available to the software users. At the basic level there are manuals in pdf format available on the software disks along with video tutorials of some more common functionality.
In addition there are classroom based courses delivered around the country in their own training centres, these are in London, Manchester, Reading, Birmingham, Newcastle and Scotland. There are a huge range of courses available, although some are run much more frequently than others, typically the Sage 50 Accounts ones are the most popular and therefore most frequent, stage one and two are run approximately monthly in each training centre, whereas the lesser used products such as forecasting and job costing are much less frequent, and never run at all in some centres. The Payroll courses site somewhere in between, however whilst the stage one course is run frequently, stage 2 is less popular and therefore not so often.
There are other options for Sage training, these include workbooks, which can be bought either individually or in bundles. CD ROM based courses but these are not available for all products and levels. Sage also have a huge network of business and accountant partners, these are companies who are fully accredited to deliver training to businesses throughout the UK on sage’s behalf. This approach can be hugely beneficial to companies as although more expensive than a standard class, you will only ever cover the subjects and features which are being used by your own business, where a scheduled class would have a fixed curriculum which the instructor must stick to, as there will undoubtedly be people in the group who want to learn it. For example if you are sitting on a more advanced Sage 50 Accounts course, there may be people who would like to learn about the purchase ordering feature and how it links in to invoicing, however, this feature is only available in Sage 50 Accounts Professional, so if you have a lesser version of the product, may not be relevant at all, even though you need that specific course to cover project costing and foreign trader and bank accounts.
certification on all sages products is also available and an exam can be taken either immediately after the course or at some point in the future, once the delegate has had an opportunity to practice what they have learnt.
