You can find private tutors for pretty much any subject you need these days, this could be an academic subject such as maths, english or biology, but also a much wider range like guitar playing and of course driving instructors. But how do you go about finding one?
There are numerous websites out there which list them for a wide variety of subjects, some are specific to a particular discipline, although the majority are very general, the thing most of them have in common is that they make money either from the tutor or the student, registration for either party can cost money, so this would potentially put people off using them.
Localtutor however are different, they have free registration for both private tutors and students, so have a large database listed by region and topic, so if you need to find someone who teaches maths in Birmingham, you just enter your criteria and up come the local people for you to approach. Have a play around with the site and try a few variations of your search, try English for example and see just how many there are local to you. There is also a forum, so you can chat to other people with an interest in the subject you are learning.
Finding the right tutor is of paramount importance, so make sure you check they are qualified to be teaching you and have a chat with them, you will learn so much faster and it will be more enjoyable if you are working with someone you get on well with.
I must admit that I am generally a believer in the old adage that you don’t get anything in life for free, however this website really seems to buck the trend and provides a completely free service to both parties. Obviously you will have to pay for the time you actually spend with someone, but that’s to be expected, and I would have thought that most of them are open to negotiation on pricing these days, so you may even find yourself a bit of a bargain.
Many of the tutors you will find are school teachers and university lecturers who need a bit of extra cash, so you need to consider that with the exception of academic holiday times, you would only be able to have the training with them evenings and weekends.
