Training can be delivered via many different mediums or a combination of them, typically these include:

• classroom based training, such as in a school, university or professional environment
• one on one training, typically delivered by an instructor or tutor in the workplace
• e-learning which is a method of delivering either pre recorded or live courses over the internet
• CD based are pre recorded and physically shipped to the trainee often with on-line access to a tutor via email
• Books and Manuals for those who prefer to just cover key skills

Along with academic training there are many types of courses for professionals, many businesses invest heavily in employee training as it both aids the company overall but also helps with employee retention. Courses can cover any topic from Accounts and HR through to industry specifics for legal through to construction skills.

The aim of any course no matter what medium is used for delivery, is to ensure the trainee fully understands the topic being learned, this is usually measured by a test or exam, these can be formal such as with academia and professional qualifications, or simply those set by a tutor to establish that the trainee has a solid grasp of the concepts covered. Many e-learning classes with have mini tests at the end of each section, to enable the person taking the course to measure their understanding of the subject, if they don’t they will have the opportunity to go back though it again to attain a better understanding.
